Early humans communicated with symbols which come in different forms and because of our uniqueness, we were able to develop our complex languages. Don't be too surprised, the serpent might not have communicated with Eve with words but rather with symbols.
God could come down to our level regardless of how primitive our language may be just as human could study and communicate with other inferior beings.

Unlike popular belief, it is better to ask for confirmation if you are not sure. God is always ready to provide you with more proofs (if its truly from Him), even Abraham, at first , needed proofs, he asked (Gen. 15:1-5,8.) and God gave it to him in a way that he could not doubt. Peter recognised Jesus at once but Thomas shamefully needed more and he got it.
